IVF Treatment- Motherhood Made Possible

In-Vitro Fertilization is the process in which union of a woman's egg and sperm of a man occur in the laboratory dish. Normally, the fertilization of egg and sperm occur inside woman's body. If the fertilized egg is fixed or attached to the uterine lining and continues to grow, a baby is born about 9 months a process called natural and unassisted conception.

In Vitro fertilization (IVF) is a form of assisted reproductive technology (ART), which involves the use of special medical techniques to help a woman become pregnant. IVF is very often attempted when other less expensive fertilization techniques have failed.

The process is carried out in five steps, they are:

1: Stimulation(super ovulation)

The woman is given drugs, commonly called fertility drugs, in order to increase egg production.

2: Removing the egg

Eggs are removed from the woman’s body by performing a minor surgery called follicular aspiration.

3: Insemination and fertilization

In this method, the sperm is placed with best quality eggs. The mixture of sperm and ovum is called insemination.

4: Embryo culture

In this method, the fertilized egg divides and it becomes an embryo

5: Embryo Transfer

After egg retrieval and fertilization, the embryos are placed in the uterus of women from 3 to 5 days.

After embryo transfer, the woman may be asked to rest for the day. Most women resume normal activities the next day.
