- Medications: Medicines are administered in endometriosis treatment for controlling pain and bleeding associated with the condition. The medicines given depends on the extend of pain, presence and intensity of bleeding. Popular medications for endometriosis include non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs, pain killers and so on. Birth control pills also helps in controlling pain and regulating periods.
- Hormonal therapy: Hormonal therapy helps in controlling the effects of endometriosis, though it cannot permanently cure the disease. It helps in preventing more endometrial growth. Hormonal therapy can be done with the help of hormonal contraceptives, Gn-RH (Gonadotrophin Releasing Hormone) agonists and antagonists, progestin therapy, danazol and so on.
